  WHY THE COURAGEOUS   

When you start choosing you, the voices in your head and around you get loud. 

 
The moment you start listening to yourself, the moment you make one honest choice for you, the people who are used to the old version of you get a little nervous. Some will need time to catch up.
 
Some may be more comfortable with the version of you they already know, and yes, sometimes people really don't want you to change because your changing changes things for them too. And the friends you thought you'd have forever don't always come with you.
 

I know, because I've lived it.

 
So this is the part where a lot of us go quiet again. We say the courageous thing, and then the first flicker of doubt shows up, and we pull it right back. We share it with one person, hear the wrong tone, and decide never to bring it up again.

Answering that can involve some undoing. Old expectations, old definitions of success, old roles and old rules about who we were supposed to be and what a woman our age is supposed to want.

It is often much less dramatic than that. It looks like the small, stacked, unglamorous things.
 
Saying no.
Following through.
Putting yourself out there once.
Not doing the thing you always do.

Those moments matter. They're how we start participating more fully in our own lives.
 

And over time, those small choices add up to something much bigger: a life that feels more like yours. A life you fall in love with each day.
