#25: Whose Voice is That?

I’m too old for that. I should be happy with what I have.

Thoughts like these go by so fast that we accept them as true before we even notice.

This week, Lisa looks at where those thoughts come from, and why a thought doesn’t have to be true to feel true. It only has to be familiar. She shares a belief she absorbed from Freedom 55 commercials and carried through twenty-five years in corporate, and the question that finally loosened it: whose voice is that?

You’ll hear how curiosity differs from judgment, the one question to ask if you only have time for one, and what to do with the quieter thoughts she calls whispers. Lisa also shares the whisper that told her she’d be out on her own before 50, and what happened when she finally got curious about it.

Your one thing this week: catch one thought and get curious; try one of these questions:

  • Whose voice is that?
  • Where did I learn that?
  • Is it true?
  • Is it true for me, today?
